CULLMAN — A Good Hope woman who sustained severe burns as the result of what law enforcement officials believe was a meth-lab explosion has been arrested on prior warrants.
Christine Dawn Myers, 24, was arrested by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. She also had three other outstanding warrants for traffic-related violations.
Myers was treated and released from UAB Hospital Monday afternoon after sustaining severe chemical burns to the face from what investigators believe was a meth-lab related explosion, which occurred at a vacant apartment on Young Road in Good Hope.
Chris Thomason, an agent with the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team, said investigators found a two-litter bottle that had been split open along with lithium strips inside the apartment.
Thomason added that Myers has not been charged with a crime in relation to the incident that occurred Monday, but that the investigation is still ongoing.
“Myers was burned up pretty badly,” Thomason said. “And sheriff’s deputies said there was a strong chemical odor inside the apartment when they arrived. We did find a meth lab in the wood line near the apartment, along with several old lab stents.”
Myers is currently being held at the Cullman County Detention Center.
