Lt. Scott Clay supervises the Violent Crimes Division that consists of 3 Investigators along with an evidence custodian and an administrative assistant and is responsible for crimes against persons and all other major crimes.

Within this division they investigate all sexual assault cases to include adult and children, death cases, felony assaults, robberies, missing persons, stalking, kidnapping, interference with custody issues, bomb threats, and some domestic violence issues.

Also within this division the investigators process all major crime scenes and work closely with patrol division and all Federal, State and other local law enforcement.

While investigating child sexual abuse cases the investigators work as a team with the Child Advocacy Center, Alabama Department of Human Resources and the District Attorneys Office.

The Evidence Custodian maintains thousands of pieces of evidence and is the point of contact with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Project Lifesaver International (PLI) helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce potential for serious injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer’s, Autism, Down Syndrome, dementia and other related disorders. PLI provides equipment, training, certification and support to law enforcement, public safety organizations and community groups which operate the Project Lifesaver program in their communities. PLI has over 1,000 participating agencies across the U.S., Canada, and Australia, and has performed over 1,900 searches in the last 10 years with a 100% success rate.
